GMU’s PhD in ES course trains missionaries and educators who want to do more professional educational work in the field as higher-level educational researchers, educational scholars, and administrators.
All application forms except transcripts can be filled out and submitted online by clicking on the application form below. After all documents have been submitted, the final admission decision will be made through an interview at the admissions committee. After passing the course, you can register for classes, and once registration is complete, you can begin your full-fledged study. Admission Qualifications
- Master’s degree holders who have completed 36 credits or more (Bible/Theology 9 credits, Education 9 credits required, other majors are required to take up to 15 credits for the master’s course according to the admissions committee’s judgment. Doctorate from the second semester after completing the required courses one semester before admission One or more courses can be combined.)
- 3 or more years of education-related experience (less than 3 years of experience will be met with church, school, community education-related experience after conditional admission)
- Must pass the admissions interview
- Students with an average grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the master’s program.
- All required documents must be submitted at the time of admission.
(Refer to the handbook at the bottom for confirmation of submitted documents) - If a person who is studying or has obtained a doctoral degree at an accredited school transfers, a maximum of 16 credits can be recognized through the committee’s deliberation.
Tuition and Scholarships
Tuition fees are set at the minimum cost according to the school’s policy to support missions. Therefore, you can study at 40-60% of the tuition of other schools.

In principle, when registering for a semester, you must pay the tuition for one semester at a time. However, if there are special circumstances, you can submit a tuition installment plan to the Ministry of Finance and pay in up to three installments if approved.
In addition, the GMU Doctoral Institute provides 30% scholarships to ministers such as missionaries and pastors.

Program Composition
Graduation Requirements
Students who plan to graduate from Grace Mission University must fulfill all applicable graduation requirements for the program to which they were admitted. Students must notify the registrar of their intention to graduate no later than the beginning of the spring semester in the year in which they plan to graduate. The faculty and Board of Trustees reserve the right to deny graduation to any student who does not meet the stated requirements for graduation. Students must clear their financial accounts of any balances before graduation.
- Satisfactory completion of 52 semester units.
- Completion of all courses prescribed in the PhD in ES curriculum.
- Maintain a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.3(B+)
- Completion of internship under the supervision of an academic advisor.
- Pass a comprehensive examination.
- Pass a final dissertation defense.
